Ahmad is 43 years old, a father of two children, and the owner of a fruit shop in Sydney. Interestingly, prior to this incident, he had no experience with firearms.
In videos that surfaced on social media, Ahmad can be seen trying to take cover behind cars and then, sneaking up on the terrorist from behind, engaging him in a struggle. As a result of the fight, he wrested the weapon from the attacker and shot at him. When the terrorist attempted to flee, witnesses reported seeing Ahmad throwing stones at him.
After that, the attacker retreated to the bridge and continued shooting, now using a different weapon.
Also, a video appeared on social media showing, presumably, Ahmad sitting on the ground after the incident, while passersby try to stop his bleeding. It is reported that one of his injuries was likely to his leg.
