The press release from the committee emphasizes that "the facts are clear and well established." Once the Nobel Prize is awarded, it cannot be revoked, divided, or transferred to anyone else. The decision is final and remains forever.

Previously, Maria Corina Machado, one of the leaders of the Venezuelan opposition, expressed her desire to share or divide her 2025 Nobel Peace Prize with Donald Trump, the President of the United States.

Machado was awarded this prize for her "tireless work in defending the democratic rights of the Venezuelan people and her commitment to a peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy." She dedicated her award to the "suffering people of Venezuela" and to Trump "for his active support of our cause."

After U.S. special forces captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on January 3, Machado noted that "the time for freedom has come for Venezuelans." She also emphasized that she is convinced Trump deserves to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

However, Trump stated that the U.S. intends to act in Venezuela together with Vice President Delcy Rodriguez, who is a long-time ally of Maduro. According to Trump, Machado does not have sufficient support in the country. Sources from The Washington Post reported that Trump refused to support Machado because she did not agree to yield the Nobel Prize to him, which he very much desired. He added that Machado "should not have won," but the awarding of the prize to her "did not affect my decision in any way."
