US President Donald Trump stated on Fox News that American forces will soon begin ground operations against Mexican drug cartels. "We will start attacking right now. The cartels control all of Mexico," he noted. Trump also added that the US has already intercepted 97% of the drugs coming by sea and is now preparing for actions on land.
Since the beginning of September, the US armed forces have been actively attacking ships in waters near Venezuela, which, according to Trump, are involved in drug trafficking. On the night of January 3, American troops struck Caracas and captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores. Trump does not rule out expanding operations against drug cartels throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, including Mexico and Colombia.
