“We will start hitting the cartels right now,” he stated on Fox News, adding that specific details of the operation have not yet been disclosed.During the conversation, Trump also mentioned his foreign policy strategy aimed at protecting the Western Hemisphere. He noted that the main goal of this policy is to prevent the influx of drugs and the entry of “bad people” into the United States. The President emphasized that moral standards are the only limitation for him as Commander-in-Chief.
Discussing the military operation in Venezuela, he stated that the U.S. has “brought stability to the region.”
Trump added that major companies operating in Venezuela will be able to earn significant amounts, and Caracas will also receive its share of these revenues.
Furthermore, he reported that the U.S. purchased Venezuelan oil worth $4 billion in one day.
“This is billions of dollars from oil that over time can turn into hundreds of billions, and then trillions. We will be present in Venezuela until the country is put in order,” Trump added.
These statements came amid a months-long U.S. military operation aimed at destroying vessels suspected of transporting drugs in the Caribbean and other regions. Administration and Pentagon officials justified some strikes by stating that members of the Venezuelan group Tren de Aragua, designated as a foreign terrorist organization, were on board.
The operations have drawn criticism from Brazil, Mexico, and Russia, whose officials expressed doubts about the future of American intervention in the affairs of other countries.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum previously noted: “Intervention has never led to democracy and has not ensured long-term stability.”
She also added: “We are categorically against intervention in the internal affairs of other countries.”
