In an interview with The New York Times, Trump emphasized that understanding the duration of U.S. control over Venezuela will take time. In particular, he pointed out that this influence will pertain to both the exploitation of Venezuelan oil and its pricing policy, as well as the country's financing, which, according to him, will last "for many years."

The president also noted that the interim government of Venezuela is ready to cooperate and is providing the U.S. with all necessary resources.

Trump confirmed contacts with Delcy Rodriguez, but when asked why she was chosen instead of opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, he did not respond. Additionally, information about the timing of elections in Venezuela remains uncertain.

It is worth recalling that on January 3, the U.S. launched a strike on Caracas, resulting in President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores being captured. At a court hearing in New York two days later, Maduro and Flores were charged with narco-terrorism, supplying cocaine to the U.S., illegal possession of weapons, and conspiracy. Both defendants pleaded not guilty. Furthermore, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed the conditions of the Venezuela plan, which includes selling oil at market prices and granting American companies access to the Venezuelan market, as well as a transfer of power.
