According to The Independent, Trump also reiterated his significance in the negotiation process between Kyiv and Moscow, stating that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will not be able to take steps without the consent of the United States.
He added: "He has nothing until I give permission. Let's see what he has in mind."
Earlier, it became known that a meeting between Zelensky and Trump is scheduled for Sunday, December 28, in Florida. The Ukrainian leader expressed a desire to discuss security issues for Kyiv, territorial aspects, and economic development with the American president, emphasizing that "much can be resolved by the end of the year."
Additionally, Zelensky noted that a final peace agreement is impossible without coordination with all participants in the negotiations, including Ukraine, the United States, Russia, and the European Union. In an interview with Axios, he emphasized that Kyiv is ready to hold a referendum on the American peace plan if Russia agrees to a 60-day ceasefire.
