Trump also expressed confidence that the meeting with Zelensky this weekend could be productive. "I think everything will go well with Putin too," he noted, adding that he plans to discuss the situation with the Russian president "soon."

These comments were made the day after Zelensky's conversation with special envoy Steve Vitkoff and Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, which the Ukrainian president described as "good."

Zelensky is expected to meet with Trump in Florida on Sunday, and he intends to present a new 20-point peace plan that includes the creation of a demilitarized zone. Additionally, the meeting will address the issue of security guarantees from the United States.

Discussions will cover topics such as the management of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and control over territories in Donbas claimed by Russia.

Zelensky's plan, which Ukrainian officials view as an attempt to demonstrate flexibility without territorial concessions, has not received significant response in Washington.

One of the key conditions of his proposal for a demilitarized zone is the withdrawal of Russian troops from certain territories in the Donetsk region.

However, Russia has shown no willingness to make concessions and continues to insist on full control over the region, highlighting the differences in the positions of the parties.

Nevertheless, Trump pointed out that the Russian economy is facing serious difficulties. "Their economy is in very bad shape," he noted.
