During the meeting, contentious aspects such as the size of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, control over the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, and mechanisms for prisoner and detainee exchanges were discussed. Notably, issues concerning territorial aspects and Ukraine's status in NATO were decided to be left for discussion between Presidents Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump, as reported by "RBK-Ukraine".

According to sources from the publication, if Kyiv and Washington can agree on a plan in the near future, and if the U.S. aligns with European allies on points concerning their interests, then American negotiators will proceed to Moscow to persuade Russia to accept the terms, using both soft and hard measures.

One of the sources for "RBK-Ukraine" stated that the American delegation, led by Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll, initially brought a peace plan to Kyiv with strict conditions: "If you do not support this plan by November 27, further actions will be on your side. We will stop supplying weapons and intelligence." He noted that on the first day of the visit, the rhetoric of the Americans was "very strict," but later it became "softer".

According to sources from "RBK-Ukraine," the American side assesses the current situation on the front as unfavorable for Kyiv. "They believe that the coming months will be critical, and in a year we will likely lose the Donetsk region," noted one informant.

The draft of the new peace plan, prepared by Trump's special envoy Steve Whitcoff and Russian President's representative Kirill Dmitriev, initially contained 28 points. Among them is a proposal to reduce the size of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to 600,000 from the current 800,000-850,000, as well as establishing oversight of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant by the IAEA with equal distribution of electricity between Russia and Ukraine.

Discussions of the peace plan involving all parties, including Europe, took place over the weekend of November 22-23. In particular, a meeting of Ukrainian and American delegations was held in Geneva, which U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio characterized as "possibly the most productive of the entire process." Following the negotiations, an "updated and revised peace document" was prepared, the office of the President of Ukraine reported. The White House added that the new version of the peace plan includes "enhanced security guarantees," and the Ukrainian delegation noted that the document "aligns with their national interests."
