Gayovishin emphasized: “We will never recognize the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine by the Russian Federation as Russian, neither officially nor in any other way.”
She added that “our land is not for sale,” and Ukraine will not agree to any limitations on its right to self-defense or on the size and capabilities of its armed forces. “We will not tolerate any interference in our sovereignty, including the right to choose the alliances we wish to join,” she stressed. “We will not reward the genocidal aspirations that underlie Russian aggression, undermining our identity, including our language,” Gayovishin concluded.
Nevertheless, she also noted Ukraine's readiness for constructive engagement on the peace plan, the draft of which was presented by the United States.
The peace plan, developed by the administration of former U.S. President Donald Trump with the involvement of Russian representatives, in particular, suggests that Ukraine effectively cede Donbass, reduce the size of its armed forces by half, abandon certain types of weapons, refrain from joining NATO, and recognize the Russian language as an official state language in the country.
