In her new role, Delcy Rodriguez took the oath before the National Assembly, as reported by DW. She noted that she came with regret over the suffering of the Venezuelan people caused by the "illegal military aggression" against the country. In her remarks, she also mentioned the kidnapping of two heroes — Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, who were captured during a U.S. operation.

The ceremony was led by Jorge Rodriguez, the speaker of the parliament and Delcy's brother. Just two days after her appointment by the Supreme Court, she already stated the priority of developing "balanced and respectful international relations" with other countries, including the U.S.

Commenting on Delcy Rodriguez's appointment, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that she would "pay a high price" for failing to cooperate with American authorities, possibly even more than Maduro, as mentioned by The Atlantic.

According to information from Bloomberg, on January 4, it became known that Secretary of State Marco Rubio would take on administrative functions in managing Venezuela after Maduro's overthrow.

Recall that on January 3, Nicolás Maduro and his wife were captured by U.S. special forces "Delta" during Operation "Absolute Resolve" and first taken to a U.S. Navy base in Guantanamo, and then to New York, where the first court hearing involving him took place on January 5.
