In an interview with Fox News, Maria Corina Machado, who leads the Venezuelan opposition, suggested to U.S. President Donald Trump that they share the Nobel Peace Prize she received in October.

According to Machado, Trump's actions have "historical significance," as they, in her opinion, create the conditions for democratic changes in Venezuela.

She emphasized that this award belongs to the Venezuelan people and that she aims to share it with Americans, including Trump, who has long aspired to this award.

"This is a significant step towards a democratic transition, and I want to convey this to the people of the United States," she noted.

The opposition leader also confirmed her intention to return to Venezuela as soon as possible after a change of power in the country.

However, the relationship between Machado and Trump remains complicated. Earlier, The Washington Post reported that Trump was unhappy that she did not immediately hand the prize over to him, which his entourage called "a serious mistake" that could negatively impact her political career. Trump also added that it would be difficult for Machado to take on leadership positions, as "she lacks support and respect in the country."
