On October 29, during Donald Trump's state visit to South Korea, President Lee Jae-myung presented him with a replica of an ancient golden crown and awarded him the highest state honor, Yonhap reports.

The ceremony took place at the National Museum of Gyeongju, located in the city of the same name in southeastern South Korea, which was once the capital of the Silla Kingdom (57 BC - 935 AD). The replica of the crown was created based on findings from the Cheonmachong tomb.

“This award symbolizes a new trust and partnership between Korea and the United States,” Lee noted as he handed the crown, placed in a glass case, to Trump.

In addition, Lee presented Trump with the Grand Order of Mugunghwa, which is the highest award in South Korea. This recognition was a landmark event, as Trump became the first U.S. president to receive this award for his contribution to maintaining stability on the Korean Peninsula and efforts to strengthen peace.

In response, Trump expressed his gratitude to Lee Jae-myung, emphasizing that the ties between South Korea and the United States are very strong and will continue to strengthen.

It is worth noting that earlier, in August during a meeting in Washington, the South Korean leader had already gifted Trump a model of a traditional Korean warship known as the "turtle ship."
