The FSB announced that the suspects in the assassination attempt on General Alexeev gave confessions

According to the FSB, Korba was recruited by the SBU in August 2025 in Ternopil with the help of Polish security forces, who used his son, a Polish citizen named Lubosh, for this purpose. The suspect underwent training at a shooting range in Kyiv and passed a polygraph test, after which he was sent to Russia, the agency claims.

In the Moscow region, Korba received a pistol and an electronic key to the apartment where Alexeev lived. He was monitoring him, receiving monthly payments in cryptocurrency for this. In one of the videos, the suspect claims that he was paid two thousand dollars a month.

“In December, I received instructions to eliminate General GRU Alexeev. For completing the task, I was promised 30 thousand US dollars. After the assassination attempt, I was told to go to the airport and take a flight to Dubai, where there was another ticket to Romania,” Korba said.

Viktor Vasin, according to the FSB, was Korba's accomplice, renting housing for him and acquiring travel documents.

The FSB characterizes Vasin as a supporter of the FBK, who participated in Moscow protests and supported "Smart Voting." He also expressed his opposition to constitutional amendments on social media and supported Sergey Udaltsov, the leader of the "Left Front."

The press release also mentions a third figure — Zinaida Serebrytskaya, who rented an apartment in the general's building and hid an electronic key to the entrance in a stash. After that, she left for Ukraine, according to the FSB.

Recently, the security service reported the detention of Korba in the UAE, from where he was handed over to Russia. On February 7, the Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow issued a ruling to arrest the suspect.

Vasin was also detained in Moscow; however, there is no information about his preventive measure in the city courts' records. Zinaida Serebrytskaya remains at large.

The assassination attempt on General Alexeev occurred on February 6, when the attacker, posing as a courier, entered the general's apartment and shot him. Alexeev was hospitalized, and, as reported by the media, he regained consciousness on February 7.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that “this terrorist act <…> confirmed the focus of the Zelensky regime <…> on disrupting the negotiation process.”

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga denied these accusations, stating that Kyiv has nothing to do with the assassination attempt on Alexeev. Western officials also express doubts about this version, as reported by The Washington Post.
