In the small French town of Arcy-sur-Ob, with a population of 2,785, the second round of local elections took place, in which 75-year-old politician Charles Hitler emerged victorious, as reported by TopTribune.

Hitler has once again taken the position of mayor, receiving 40.59% of the voters' votes.

His opponent, 28-year-old Antoine Reno-Zelinski, garnered 27.92%, finishing third in the race.

In other major cities in France, candidates from the left political force generally won. For instance, Emmanuel Grégoire, nominated by the Socialist Party, became the mayor of Paris.

Recently, French social media has been filled with "humorous" posts about a supposed confrontation between the German dictator Adolf Hitler and the current President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

Charles Hitler expressed his dissatisfaction: "This is absolute madness. Throughout my life, I have had to deal with jokes about my last name. Sometimes they would draw mustaches on election posters. But now it has gone beyond reasonable limits. I saw articles online with headlines like '37% of Arcy residents are Hitlerites!' This has affected my family; my wife is in tears," he shared.

The politician also spoke about his roots: his family is from northern Alsace, and his father worked as a shepherd. During World War II, he was taken to Germany for forced labor.

"When he returned, he met my mother. Everyone advised him to change his last name, as it was 1949 and the war had just ended. However, this was associated with significant bureaucratic difficulties and costs, so they did not do it," he added.

Antoine Reno-Zelinski, who recently moved to Arcy and works as a customs officer, explained that the second part of his surname comes from his Polish mother.

"People often ask me if I have any family ties to Zelensky. I always answer 'no,' explaining that Polish surnames end in 'i,' while Ukrainian ones end in 'y.' On Sunday, I saw messages about our surnames on social media and initially thought it was just a joke. But soon I realized that the discussions were indeed about us! I understand why this seems funny, although I don't find it amusing or concerning. It would have been better if our town was mentioned for other reasons, but at least now we are on the map," noted Antoine Reno-Zelinski.
