
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of the outstanding actor Abdykalyk Akmatov, who gained wide recognition as the People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic. This information has been confirmed by the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy.
In the agency's report, it is emphasized that Akmatov was a member of the Union of Theater Workers of the Kyrgyz Republic and was considered a master of both theatrical and cinematic arts.
“Each of his characters on stage was distinguished by depth and skill, leaving vivid impressions on the audience. Abdykalyk Akmatov significantly influenced the development of theatrical art in the country and dedicated his life to Kyrgyz culture. This loss is a heavy blow to the entire society. We express our sincere condolences to his family, loved ones, and all those connected to the cultural sector. May the earth rest lightly upon him,” the official statement says.
The actor passed away at the age of 71 after a prolonged illness.
We remind you that just the day before, President Sadyr Japarov awarded Abdykalyk Akmatov the honorary title of "People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic" for his significant contribution to the culture of the country.
