It became known which spice reduces 'bad' cholesterol

A study conducted by scientists confirmed that black cumin seeds (Nigella sativa) have an effect that helps combat obesity.

Results published in the journal Food Science & Nutrition (FS&N) show that the seed extract reduces fat accumulation in cell models without toxic effects. The researchers found that it effectively suppresses key genes responsible for fat deposition.

These results were confirmed in a clinical study involving people. Over eight weeks, the group that consumed 5 grams of black cumin powder daily noted significant improvements in their lipid profile.

Participants in the experiment demonstrated a decrease in triglycerides, low-density lipoproteins, and total cholesterol, while high-density lipoprotein levels increased. The control group, which did not take the supplement, showed no significant changes.

The study data highlight the potential of black cumin as a means for weight control, due to its combined anti-adipogenic and hypolipidemic effects.
