The international conference dedicated to the topic "Development of Oncology Care in the Modern World Against the Background of Decreasing Mortality from Cardiovascular Diseases" took place on November 27 at the Jalal-Abad Regional Clinical Hospital. The event was organized by the Jalal-Abad State University (JASU).

Professor and Doctor of Medical Sciences Igor Pershukov, who heads the Department of Hospital Therapy with a course in Radiological Diagnostics and Oncology at JASU, shared information about the progress of the conference.

According to Pershukov, starting in 2025, the university plans to focus on oncology in the educational program of the medical faculty, as well as on issues related to providing oncology care to the population of the region. As part of this initiative, Daniil Lvovich Stroyakovsky, a Russian oncologist and candidate of medical sciences who heads the Department of Oncology at Moscow City Clinical Hospital No. 62 and the Chemotherapy Department at Moscow City Oncology Hospital No. 62, was invited to Manas.

In his lecture, D. L. Stroyakovsky presented statistical data on the increase in cancer incidence and mortality over the past ten years both globally and in Russia. He noted that there is an increase in the incidence of breast cancer, prostate cancer, and colorectal cancer. The reasons for this growth remain unclear. Since 2014, the incidence has increased by 19%, while prostate cancer has risen by 79% over the decade. Cancers of the female reproductive system account for 45% of all cases. Breast cancer has increased by 30%, and cancer of the rectum and colon has increased by 37%. It is also noted that female patients with breast cancer and colorectal cancer are getting younger. The most significant increase is observed in lung adenocarcinoma among non-smoking women: in the USA, this figure has risen from 11.3 to 48.2 per 100,000 over 25 years, which is an increase of 4.26 times.

Furthermore, Stroyakovsky emphasized the importance of establishing a full-fledged oncology service in Manas, which would be beneficial not only for the residents of the Jalal-Abad region but also for neighboring regions and countries in the Fergana Valley. He proposed developing a project for an oncology center that would integrate outpatient and inpatient services. The effective operation of such a center would require the involvement of 2.5 to 3 million residents. The foundation of oncology care should consist of outpatient examinations and treatments; however, a multidisciplinary oncology hospital for surgery and complex chemotherapy is also necessary, along with equipment for radiation therapy with two synchronously operating machines.

The lecture sparked active discussions among doctors, who asked numerous questions and showed interest in the highly qualified specialist.

On the same day, the Academic Council of JASU awarded Daniil Lvovich Stroyakovsky the title of Honorary Professor for his significant contribution to global oncology and high scientific citation rating. Stroyakovsky is the author of over 60 scientific publications in medical journals and actively participates in clinical research related to the implementation of new effective methods for treating cancer.

The university hopes for support from the authorities to develop oncology care, which will allow for the creation of a new oncology complex equipped with modern technology and staffed with highly qualified specialists.

For the successful operation of the oncology center, three key components are necessary: highly qualified medical personnel, including surgeons, radiation therapists, specialists in drug therapy, and other doctors; trained mid-level and junior medical staff; as well as funding for patient treatment through mandatory health insurance or other forms of government coverage.

The oncology care system, when properly organized, can ensure complete recovery in 50-55% of cancer cases with timely detection, and for 45-50% of patients with metastatic processes, it can significantly prolong life and improve its quality for months and even years.
