Here is the text:
According to the National Statistics Committee, from January to August 2025, 2,898 people died from oncological diseases in Kyrgyzstan.
The highest cancer mortality rates are observed in three regions: Bishkek and Chui region, the city of Osh and Osh region, as well as Jalal-Abad region.
Although there are oncological services in Bishkek and Osh, they are absent in the city of Manas and Jalal-Abad region. Patients from these areas are forced to seek treatment in Osh.
This situation:
1) significantly complicates the early detection of oncological diseases,
2) reduces the chances for radical treatment of tumors at early stages,
3) traveling through mountainous routes for chemotherapy from Manas to Osh poses a serious health threat to patients.
Due to logistical issues, people are reluctant to seek medical help, and oncological diseases are often diagnosed at advanced stages, when treatment is no longer an option.
Thus, the actual statistics on cancer incidence and mortality are likely even more dismal. Once oncological care becomes more accessible to the population, the number of detected cases will increase, which will also affect mortality rates (initially, they rise along with the detection rate, and then decrease due to effective treatments that prolong patients' lives).
The establishment of a full-fledged oncological service in Manas, according to the National Statistics Committee, has become an urgent necessity.
This service should include:
1. a specialized oncological center, which will include:
- an outpatient service for examining patients suspected of cancer and their further monitoring;
- diagnostic departments with endoscopy, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and PET-CT (the PET may be the only one in the region and operate for the oncological service, located in the under-construction cardiovascular surgery center);
- a biochemical laboratory, as well as morphological and genetic services;
- a chemotherapy department (both inpatient and outpatient types);
- a radiation therapy department with a gamma knife and at least two modern photon therapy machines;
- a surgical inpatient facility with specialized departments.
2. outpatient oncological assistance departments (OAP) in the districts to provide assistance to patients locally with the possibility of undergoing chemotherapy.
An international scientific group of doctors and researchers from Europe and Asia, including specialists from Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, and the United Kingdom (Professors B.A. Sidenko, Z.A. Niyazova-Karben, B. Dokumachi, L.V. Shulzhenko, A.T. Mansharipova, L.N. Petrakova-Stone, I.V. Pershukov, T.A. Batyraliev, PhD doctors B.A. Akbalaev, N. Rayymbek uulu), has been actively engaged in issues of cardio-oncology over the last decade and has developed a number of diagnostic algorithms that have received patents, allowing for effective treatment of cancer patients.
These problems are well known to specialists on the ground. Starting in 2025, training for students in the field of oncology at JAGU will be strengthened with the involvement of foreign experts for distance learning.
A high-tech cardiovascular surgery center is currently being built in Manas. This is extremely important for the population. The next step is to create a modern oncological care system in Jalal-Abad region from scratch and develop it at a high level.
