According to Sulaymanov, the maternity department in Kyzyl-Kyshtak was closed in April 2025, forcing women to travel to the city to give birth. This creates risks, as they may not make it in time, and urban maternity hospitals are experiencing overload. Kyzyl-Kyshtak has a population of about 50,000 residents.
The department, which had 10 beds, recorded no cases of maternal or infant mortality before its closure.
Additionally, Sulaymanov noted that 13 medical workers who were employed in the department lost their jobs after its closure.
The statistics on the number of births are as follows:
- 2020 - 1200 newborns
- 2021 - 800
- 2022 - 600
- 2023 - 544
- 2024 - 500
- up to April 2025 - 180
The deputy proposed that this issue be included in the committee's agenda with the aim of restoring the maternity department's operations.
Sulaymanov also appealed to the acting Minister of Health Kanibek Dosmambetov to pay attention to the oncology and hematology department at the Osh regional hospital. He pointed out that there are only 30 rooms there, and patients with cancer from the entire southern region of the country are forced to be treated in conditions where four children share a room with their parents.
The deputy added that there is a plot of land measuring 15 acres on the territory of the regional hospital that could be used to build a separate building for the oncology and hematology departments, in order to provide patients with comfortable conditions for treatment.
The committee on labor, health, women's affairs, and social issues decided to take these requests into account and forward them to the budget committee.
