According to preliminary data, among the victims of the disaster were the deputy general director and several leading specialists of the Kizlyar Electromechanical Plant (KEMZ). The aircraft belongs to JSC "Concern KEMZ" and crashed onto a private non-residential house.
In connection with the incident, a criminal investigation has been initiated under part 3 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, concerning violations of air transport safety rules that led to the deaths of several people.
Preliminary data indicate a possible technical malfunction as the cause of the crash. Later, emergency services reported that the helicopter experienced an engine fire during the flight. Rosaviatsiya classified the event as a disaster.
