According to the press service, the decision to hold the next summit in Kazakhstan was made by the heads of state of Central Asia and the Prime Minister of Japan.

As a result of the previous summit "Central Asia – Japan," the Tokyo Declaration was adopted.

The summit is taking place in Tokyo on December 20, with the participation of Japan's Prime Minister Sanae Takichi, Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Japarov, Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon, and Turkmenistan's President Serdar Berdymukhamedov.
