Teaser for the anime "Jadugar: Witch in Mongolia" reveals the creators' lineup and premiere date in July. Video

The official website of the anime series "Jaadugar: Witch in Mongolia," based on the manga "Life of a Witch in Mongolia" (Tenmaku no Jādūgar) from Tomato Soup studio, presented a teaser and visual materials last Saturday.

Along with the teaser, the companies revealed the key creators of the anime and confirmed the premiere date in July 2026. The anime will be broadcast in the "IMAnimation W" block on TV Asahi and its 23 subsidiary channels, as well as on BS Asahi.

The main director is Naoko Yamada (The Heike Story, A Silent Voice, The Colors Within), while Abel Gongora (DAN DA DAN season 2, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, Star Wars: Visions' "TO-B1") will lead the project at Science SARU. Character design and main animation will be developed by Kenichi Yoshida (Eureka Seven, Gundam: Reconguista in G), and the series' scripts will be overseen by Kanichi Kato (Black Clover, The Eminence in Shadow). The music for the anime will be composed by Koshiro Hino.

On May 27, Yen Press released the first volume of the manga in English. Description of the manga from Yen Press:

Set in the 13th century in the Mongol Ulus, one of the greatest empires in history. The main character is Fatima, a woman from Persia, where medical knowledge has reached an outstanding level. Her desire to apply her knowledge leads her to the Mongol palace, where she comes under the protection of Dörgun-khatun, the sixth wife of the second Great Khan Ögedei. These two strong women will become the center of political intrigue that encompasses both the palace and the entire world...

The manga from Tomato Soup studio began serialization on the Souffle platform of Akita Shoten in September 2021. The fifth volume was published on April 16.



The manga series began its release on the Souffle website simultaneously with its publication in the Mystery Bonita magazine from Akita Shoten on March 6. Releases will occur every two months until summer, after which it will be paused during Tomato Soup's maternity leave. The manga is expected to return next year.



The manga ranked first among female audiences in the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2023 rankings and 11th place in 2024. Additionally, it was nominated for the 16th Manga Taisho Awards in 2023 and again the following year. The manga was also featured in the "Best New Manga" category at the second American Manga Awards ceremony.
