In the Caribbean Sea, near Trinidad, the U.S. seized the tanker Olina. This is the fifth operation to intercept vessels in recent weeks, as Washington seeks to control the export of Venezuelan oil, according to two U.S. officials from Reuters.

According to an industry source directly related to the situation, the tanker Olina, which is officially registered under the flag of East Timor, recently left Venezuela and was heading back to the region.

The British company Vanguard, specializing in maritime risks, reported that the vessel's tracking system was last active 52 days ago in the exclusive economic zone of Venezuela, northeast of Curaçao.

Last week, Olina left Venezuela fully loaded with oil, as part of a fleet, shortly after the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on January 3. The vessel then returned to Venezuela fully loaded, according to the industry source, due to the U.S. blockade.

U.S. Southern Command published a video of the seizure of the tanker Olina on its social media page X, confirming the information.

The post stated: "Our combined interagency forces have once again sent a clear message: there is no safe haven for criminals."

According to military sources, the operation was conducted in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Marines and sailors began actions from the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford.

The command stated that the operation was carried out without any incidents.
