Turkey's Ministry of Transport: tanker traveling from Russia to Georgia was attacked in the Black Sea

The crew of the vessel, consisting of 13 people, confirmed that no one was injured and does not require assistance.

According to information, the tanker is heading towards the city of Sinop, with its engines functioning normally.

Details on how the attack occurred have not been disclosed.

The tanker "Midvolga 2" was built in 2014 and is registered under the flag of Russia, reports the portal VesselFinder. The owner of the vessel is the Middle Volga Shipping Company, as noted by TASS.

On November 28, there was an attack on the tankers "Kairos" and "Virat," which were sailing under the flag of Gambia. Both vessels were attacked by maritime drones almost simultaneously. "Kairos" was located 28 nautical miles from the Turkish coast, while "Virat" was 38 miles away. The next day, several Ukrainian media outlets, citing sources in the Security Service of Ukraine, reported that this was a special operation carried out using upgraded drones. According to the source, the attacked tankers "could have been transporting oil worth nearly 70 million dollars and were helping the Kremlin circumvent international sanctions."

Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, described the attack on the tankers as "a flagrant crime." He noted that this is an infringement on Turkey's sovereignty and threatens the safety and property of the shipowners. Turkish authorities also expressed concern, stating that attacks on tankers represent "a serious threat to navigation, life, property, and environmental safety in the region."
