
According to the latest data, 10 people have been hospitalized, nine of whom sustained serious life-threatening injuries, as reported by representatives of the British transport police.
The attack occurred on November 1, just 10 minutes after the train departed from the station in Peterborough, located in Cambridgeshire. Police were notified of the incident at 7:40 PM local time.
Witnesses describe panic: people were pushing and seeking shelter in the restrooms. One eyewitness told BBC News that he saw a man with a bloodied hand running through the carriage in a panic, shouting, "They have a knife!"
The train was stopped at the station in Huntingdon, where, according to witnesses, police used a Taser against one of the attackers, who was armed with a large knife, and apprehended him.
The police classified the incident as a "serious incident," adding that the investigation is being conducted by a specialized counter-terrorism unit.
Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, described the incident as "horrific." "My thoughts are with all those affected," he wrote on social media platform X.
