Man opens fire outside the parliament building in Belgrade

The President of Serbia characterized the incident as a terrorist attack




A 70-year-old man opened fire and set fire to a tent of supporters of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić outside the parliament building in Belgrade, local media reports.





The incident occurred in the square in front of the parliament. Shortly after reports of the fire, police officers, firefighters, and the prosecutor of the Higher Prosecutor's Office of Belgrade arrived at the scene. The area was cordoned off, and the fire was successfully extinguished.

The police detained the 70-year-old shooter, who injured one person in the thigh. The victim was taken to a medical facility, and his condition is stable with no threat to life.

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, classified the armed attack near the parliament as a terrorist act.
