At the World Council meeting in Washington, Donald Trump announced over $7 billion in aid for the Gaza Strip.
“The region must no longer be a breeding ground for radicalism and terrorism. I am pleased to announce that Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, the UAE, Morocco, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, and Kuwait have united to provide over $7 billion as part of this aid package,” Trump emphasized.
Additionally, he noted that the U.S. will allocate $10 billion for the needs of the “World Council.” During the event, the president also stated that the UN will send $2 billion to support Gaza, and FIFA will allocate $75 million for the development of football initiatives in the region. Furthermore, Japan plans to conduct a fundraising campaign that will involve other countries such as South Korea, the Philippines, and Singapore.
According to Bloomberg, the U.S. is urging countries wishing to take a permanent seat on the international “World Council” for Gaza to contribute at least $1 billion.
As reported by The Guardian, a proposal was prepared for the summit to establish a military base of 5,000 personnel in the Gaza Strip to host international stabilization forces (ISF). Sources claim that a small group of international construction companies with experience in conflict zones has already assessed a potential site for this base.
During the meeting, Trump also announced that Indonesia, Morocco, Albania, Kosovo, and Kazakhstan expressed their readiness to send their troops and police forces to stabilize the situation in Gaza.
