The establishment of the Peace Council in the Gaza Strip was announced by U.S. President Donald Trump on January 16, 2026. This initiative is part of Trump’s peace plan for Gaza and includes the deployment of international forces. The executive committee will include figures such as U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Washington has sent invitations to participate in the “Peace Council” to leaders of 50 countries, including Argentina, Canada, France, Germany, Australia, Bahrain, Egypt, Turkey, and Israel. The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, also received an invitation.
According to information from Bloomberg, the U.S. requires countries wishing to hold a permanent seat on the international Gaza Peace Council to contribute at least $1 billion. The first chairman of this council is Trump, who will decide who becomes a member. Each state will have one vote and will be appointed for a term of no more than three years. Decisions of the council will be made by a majority vote; however, all must be approved by Chairman Trump.
