Diplomatic sources told FT that the U.S. is considering the possibility of extending the powers of the "Council of Peace" to Venezuela, where the situation has escalated following the U.S. military's attempt to seize power from Nicolás Maduro.
Regarding Ukraine, a high-profile official from Kyiv involved in negotiations with the U.S. side noted that the establishment of a separate "Council of Peace" under Trump's leadership is a key element of proposals to end Russia's military actions against Ukraine. The possibility of creating a specialized body to address Ukrainian-Russian issues is being discussed.
According to an FT source, the Ukrainian "Council of Peace" could include representatives from Ukraine, Russia, Europe, and NATO and oversee the implementation of the 20-point peace plan proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Meanwhile, as reported by Bloomberg, according to a draft charter, the White House intends to set a fee of $1 billion for countries wishing to become members of the new "Council of Peace." Despite this, the White House denied the information, stating that it is "misleading" and that there are no minimum membership fees. It is expected that permanent members will have to adhere to the principles of peace, security, and prosperity.
According to Bloomberg, Donald Trump will be the first chairperson of the new international body, and membership in the "Council of Peace" will be limited to a term of up to three years, with the possibility of extension by the chairperson.
