At a press conference with Czech President Petr Pavel, which took place on Friday, January 16, Zelensky announced plans for a Ukrainian delegation to visit the United States for negotiations with the Trump administration. This was reported by DW.

The president expressed hope that the results of the meetings would clarify the details of the documents that had already been prepared with the American side, as well as understand how Russia would respond to these efforts.

Zelensky also emphasized the need to finalize work on various aspects related to security guarantees and the reconstruction of Ukraine. He added that if the agreement is successfully refined, it could be signed during the World Economic Forum, which will be held from January 19 to 23 in Davos.

“It is important not just to sign the agreement, but to ensure that all arrangements with our partners are taken into account. We want Ukraine not to be left without support after the war,” the president said.

Among the issues discussed is attracting about $800 billion for the country's reconstruction over the next ten years. Signing the agreement could open pathways for obtaining loans, grants, and investments from private companies.

Additionally, at the press conference, Zelensky announced the arrival of a new package of missiles for air defense systems that could not previously be used due to a lack of ammunition. According to him, until the morning of the current day, Kyiv had several air defense systems without missiles, but now these munitions have arrived.

He noted that he has to actively work on obtaining each new aid package from European and U.S. countries.

In an interview with Reuters on January 14, Donald Trump stated that Ukraine is "less ready" for peace than Russia. When asked about the reasons why U.S.-led negotiations had not led to an end to the four-year conflict, he replied: “Zelensky,” without providing further details.

On January 15, Zelensky stated that the ongoing Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure are a sign of Moscow's unwillingness to pursue peace.

In December 2025, the president of Ukraine published a 20-point peace plan for the first time, which is being discussed by the parties. As reported by AFP on January 16, Kyiv and its European allies have agreed with the U.S. on the main parameters of this plan.
