Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine "will not legally recognize" either the occupied territories or the status of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant under any circumstances. He also noted that any decisions on these issues can only be made after public discussion, including referendums or changes in legislation.
Speaking about the upcoming meeting in the USA, the president mentioned that among the topics to be discussed will be security guarantees for Ukraine from Western countries, military support issues, as well as plans for the country's reconstruction. He also plans to discuss ways to further resolve the conflict.
Zelensky highlighted the issue of security as one of the main points, pointing out that "Russia has already demonstrated its reaction to negotiations" between Kyiv and Washington regarding the end of the war.
The President of Ukraine also noted that Kyiv supports Trump's initiative for a ceasefire and "was ready to make many compromises."
He warned that prolonging the end of the conflict poses a threat to the whole world, as Russia, in his words, will not stop at Ukraine, regardless of any agreements and statements.
According to information, the meeting between Trump and Zelensky will take place on December 28 in the resort town of Palm Beach, Florida. As reported by Politico, the negotiations are expected to address issues related to Ukraine's security, the proposal to create a demilitarized zone in the east of the country, as well as the management of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and control over Donbas.
Earlier, Trump noted in a conversation with Politico that Zelensky "has nothing" until the relevant decisions are approved by him as President of the United States.
