During the meeting, which lasted over five hours, not only Whitcoff participated, but also Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, as well as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, highlighting the importance of this event.
According to Whitcoff, the participants engaged in deep discussions about the 20-point peace plan and related economic issues. He noted that significant progress was made, and negotiations would continue the following day.
In his Telegram channel, Zelensky only mentioned the beginning of the negotiations.
Earlier on Saturday, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz met with the President of Ukraine in Berlin, after which discussions with the American delegation began. Merz personally welcomed the participants, including the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov.
According to German media, the Chancellor did not take an active part in the negotiations between Ukraine and the U.S., however, his foreign policy advisor, Günther Sautter, was present at the meeting.
