Commenting on the proposal, Peskov emphasized: “We are looking for paths to peace, not temporary solutions. What is most important for us is a sustainable and long-term peace that can be achieved through the signing of necessary agreements.” These words were spoken by him at a press conference, as reported by "Kommersant".

Additionally, Peskov noted that the statements made by U.S. President Donald Trump about the conflict in Ukraine, in an interview for Politico, largely coincide with Moscow's position, especially on issues related to NATO and the lost territories of Ukraine.

The Kremlin has carefully studied part of Trump's interview concerning Russia and the peaceful settlement in Ukraine. The press secretary described this interview as quite significant.

“Trump touched on the root causes of the conflict, particularly issues related to NATO. This is extremely important for future peaceful regulation,” added Peskov.

On December 9, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine is ready to cease attacks on Russian energy facilities if Russia agrees to a similar ceasefire. He also noted that Ukraine has not yet sent the U.S. an updated version of the peace plan with the changes made, and work is ongoing at the advisor level.
