A memorandum of understanding has been signed to reduce disruptions in the supply of medicines

On February 27, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Minister of Health Chingburen Jigjidsuren and the UN Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative Matilda Dimovska. This information was presented on the MiddlerAsianNews website.

According to the Ministry of Health, this memorandum will allow medical institutions to purchase in-demand, expensive, and life-saving medicines directly through UNDP. This is due to the fact that the supply of these drugs is often subject to disruptions. Purchases will be made from a single reliable supplier, ensuring compliance with high quality standards and reasonable prices.

Chingburen noted that the ministry and the government of Mongolia attach great importance to the quality and pricing of medications. He expressed confidence that this event will be an important step towards implementing a system that allows for the procurement of quality medicines at affordable prices. The Minister also thanked UNDP for its ongoing support to Mongolia in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and other national priorities.

As part of the memorandum, the procurement of medicines for the treatment of hemophilia will be carried out, which were previously at risk of shortage and included in the "List of Diseases and Medicines Subject to State Control." These drugs are necessary for patients with blood clotting disorders to prevent and treat bleeding.

In addition, the list of medications purchased from a single source will include antiepileptic drugs.
