Intermed Hospital has announced a strategic partnership with the International University of Health and Welfare (IUHW), one of the leading private organizations in Japan in the field of healthcare and education. As a result of this collaboration, it will be named Intermed IUHW Hospital. This was reported by MiddleAsianNews.

This means that Japanese methods and technologies in healthcare are beginning to be actively implemented in the Mongolian system.

As part of the collaboration, Intermed IUHW Hospital will introduce advanced Japanese diagnostic and treatment technologies, significantly expanding access for the population to high-quality medical services.

“In creating Intermed Hospital, the MCS Group aimed to establish an institution that meets international standards and provides access to quality medical services. Now, thanks to the strategic partnership with one of the leading Japanese organizations, we are taking another step towards achieving global standards in Mongolia’s healthcare,” noted the Chairman of the Board of Directors of MCS Group, Ojaragal Jambaljamts.

This partnership will allow for various modern diagnostic and treatment procedures to be conducted in Mongolia that were previously unavailable. The implementation of preventive examinations according to Japanese standards will also become possible. The results of examinations performed at Intermed IUHW will be validated by Japanese doctors, adding an important aspect to the quality of medical services.

As part of the collaboration, a 320-slice computed tomography scanner and a modern angiographic system for interventional treatment of cardiovascular diseases will be installed in the hospital. A telemedicine system will also be implemented, allowing for remote consultations with Japanese specialists, ensuring access to high-quality medical care even in complex cases.

Takagi Kuninori, Chairman of the Board of Directors of IUHW, emphasized the importance of this strategic partnership. He stated that Intermed Hospital will be the first outside of Japan to officially bear the name IUHW. This collaboration will also open opportunities for the professional development of doctors and nurses through internships at university hospitals in Japan.

Thus, investments in Intermed IUHW, the first hospital in Mongolia with international JCI accreditation, create a foundation for forming a healthcare system that meets global standards, which is a significant achievement for the country.

The International University of Health and Welfare (国際医療福祉大学) was founded in 1995 and includes five campuses throughout Japan. Its medical faculty offers a 6-year training program, with 20 out of 140 students accepted annually reserved for international students.

IUHW has a high reputation in the field of medical sciences, ranking 1594th in the world and 84th in Japan according to CWUR 2025. It is among the top 7.5% of educational institutions worldwide and ranks 424th in the field of medicine.
