According to Financial Times, the new banknote is valued at just over 7 dollars at the current exchange rate. The Central Bank of Iran explained that the issuance of this banknote is necessary to meet the population's demand for cash, despite the fact that electronic payment systems and internet banking continue to operate stably.

Additionally, the publication reports that, according to official statistics, inflation in Iran reached 47.5% year-on-year as of February, which is before the onset of military actions.

Previously, the largest banknote in Iran was the 5 million rials note, which was introduced in early February.
