For the first time in history, the signature of the sitting president will appear on American banknotes. Previously, the signature of the treasurer was featured on the bills, but now it will be removed — this will happen for the first time in 165 years.

According to Scott Bessen, the Secretary of the Treasury, the new bills will be issued in honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States, which we are celebrating this year.

He noted: “Under President Trump’s leadership, we are moving towards unprecedented economic growth and long-term stability of the dollar. Placing his name on the dollar bills is the best way to celebrate the achievements of our country and the president.”

Brandon Beach, the U.S. Treasurer, added that Trump’s contribution to the economic history of the country is undeniable, calling him “the architect of the golden age of economic revival.” In his opinion, placing the president’s signature on the money is absolutely justified.

The first batch of $100 bills featuring the signatures of Donald Trump and Scott Bessen is planned to be printed in June, according to Reuters.

Additionally, Trump will be depicted on a number of other commemorative materials related to the country’s anniversary. The Fine Arts Commission, established by Trump, recently approved the design of a large gold coin featuring the president. A project for a one-dollar coin with his portrait is also being considered.
