On the weekend in the Jayil district, a tabletop game was showcased at the "bargain market," which was very popular among youth and teenagers in the Soviet Union over half a century ago.

A local seller offered the tabletop game "Football" for 100 soms, demonstrating its excellent condition: all player figures were in their places, and the game mechanisms were functioning properly.

Historian and local historian Maxim Podgorny notes that the tabletop games "Football" and "Hockey" were extremely in demand among young people before the advent of electronic games. Players competed against each other, controlling the player figures with levers.

"By controlling the figures, participants tried to score a plastic or rubber ball into the opponent's goal. The one who scored more goals won, making the game similar to real football or hockey. This game was characterized by dynamism and excitement, and fans could watch the gameplay. Half a century ago, such a game was considered one of the most desired birthday gifts for boys in the USSR," the historian said.

Today's analogs of the tabletop game "Football" range in price from 1500 soms to 25,000 soms, depending on the configuration and country of production.
