The Kyrgyz Football Union (KFS) has announced significant changes in the structure of national football: in the upcoming season, the Premier League (previously known as the Premier League) will be expanded to 16 teams. This decision marks an important step in reforming the country's championship.

New clubs in the elite

Two clubs have been granted the right to compete in the top division of Kyrgyz football:

1. "Asia" from Talas — a new project created with the support of former Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov.

2. "Toktogul" — a team that won the title in the National League last season.

The establishment of the "Asia" club has become one of the most discussed news items: it was formed in a short time, and construction work is actively underway on the central stadium in Talas, which will become the home arena for the team.

Changes in the league

KFS also announced the renaming of the leagues:

The Premier League is now called the Higher League; The National League has been transformed into the First League.

The main innovation is the updated team rotation system. The winner of the First League will automatically be promoted to the Higher League, while the team finishing in last place (16th) will be relegated. This will create a more transparent and competitive structure.

Management's opinion

Kamchybek Tashiev, head of the Kyrgyz Football Union, noted that the expansion of the Higher League is an important step for the development of football in the country. He emphasized that increasing the number of teams will allow regions to more actively develop their clubs and will serve as an incentive to raise the level of the championship.

These changes will take effect in the next season, which promises to be one of the most interesting in recent years.
