In the Talas District, a museum was opened in the school in honor of the komuz player Shekerbek Sherkulov.

On November 20, a museum dedicated to the komuz player and composer Shekerbek Sherkulov, bearing his name, was opened in the village of Kök-Tokoj in the Talas region.
In the museum's exhibition, visitors can see the musician's personal belongings, including his komuz with covers made of black walnut and apricot, as well as photographs capturing his life. Before the solemn ceremony began, participants laid flowers at the monument of Shekerbek Sherkulov, located in front of the school, and offered a prayer.
The Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Talas region, Mira Seydikereimova, emphasized the important role of komuz players in reviving the national spirit and the necessity of preserving Sherkulov's legacy for future generations.
Among the guests at the opening were local residents, as well as the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Shekerbek Sherkulov.
Shekerbek Sherkul uulu (Sherkulo) was born in 1902 in the village of Talas-Aryk, now known as Kök-Tokoj, in a family where the komuz was an important part of life. He studied under the famous musician Toktogul Satylganov and absorbed the rich heritage of Kyrgyz melodies and songs.
As a performer, Shekerbek created melodies and songs, among which "Zhashtar marshy," "Tynchtyk kuusu," "Kyz kyial," "Esen bol," "Emgek bakyty," and "Talasym" stand out. His creative journey was marked by recognition and awards: in 1944, he received the title of Honored Artist of the Kyrgyz SSR, and in 1958, he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
After an active concert career, he continued to share his art through teaching and working in an ensemble, educating the younger generation of musicians.
Shekerbek Sherkulov passed away on April 22, 1980, in his native village of Kök-Tokoj.
