As reported by producer Altynai Koichumanova, this award features an exquisite statuette of a butterfly, created by artist Yuri Cooper, whose wings are inlaid with diamonds.
The "Diamond Butterfly" award was founded in 2025 with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Russia and the Russian Cultural Foundation. The project was initiated by Nikita Mikhalkov, and the first award ceremony took place on November 27 at Mikhalkov's "Masterovskaya 12" in Moscow.
The film "Kara Kyzyl Sary," directed by Kyrgyz filmmaker Aktan Arym Kubat, tells the story of three interconnected destinies, the main one being a love story of ordinary people. This plot explores themes of trials in love, moral responsibility in the family, and the value of respect and mutual understanding.
At the center of the narrative is Turdugul, a weaver whose carpets serve as "mirrors of destinies." Each of her carpets is unique and reflects the soul of the person whose fate is embodied in the fabric. The film reveals the depth of everyday life, the strength of traditions, and the significance of individuality in culture through craftsmanship and visual metaphors.
Talant Akynbekov, representing the "Kyrgyzfilm" studio, is also known for his work in films such as "Takeoff" (2002, Kazakhstan), "Aiyl Okmotu" (2004, Kyrgyzstan, Germany), "Heavenly Nomads" (2015, Kyrgyzstan), "Barefoot Runner" (2019, Kyrgyzstan), "Esimde" (2022, Kyrgyzstan), and "Kara Kyzyl Sary" (2025, Kyrgyzstan).
