The streaming platform Netflix has announced the acquisition of Warner Bros. for a sum of $82.7 billion, as reported by Meduza.

Netflix representatives emphasize that this merger represents a synergy of "the best streaming service with the rich legacy of Warner Bros.".

Ted Sarandos, CEO of Netflix, noted: "Our goal has always been to entertain viewers around the world. By combining the amazing collection of films and series from Warner Bros.—from classics like 'Casablanca' and 'Citizen Kane' to modern hits like 'Harry Potter' and 'Friends'—with our iconic projects such as 'Stranger Things,' 'Demon Hunter K-Pop,' and 'Squid Game,' we will be able to reach new heights."

According to Reuters, the acquisition of Warner Bros. will significantly change the balance of power in Hollywood, strengthening Netflix's position, which had previously achieved success without large-scale deals or a significant content library. However, the deal will undergo antitrust scrutiny in both the European Union and the United States, as it will give Netflix access to competitor HBO Max, which has 130 million subscribers.
