The incident that led to the accusations involved a woman’s statement that in 2017, during a tour, Oh Young-soo hugged her and kissed her on the cheek without her consent. The harassment case was reported to the police in December 2021, but it was closed. In 2022, the prosecution reopened the investigation at the request of the victim, who claimed that after the incident, she had to see a psychologist for six months.
Initially, the first-instance court sentenced the actor to eight months in prison with a two-year probation period. However, later the Suwon District Court overturned this decision, fully acquitting Oh Young-soo. The court took into account the possibility of the victim's memories being distorted over time and noted that in cases of doubt, the rights of the accused must be protected.
It is worth noting that Oh Young-soo won a Golden Globe Award in 2022 in the category of "Best Supporting Actor in a Television Project" for his work in "Squid Game" on Netflix.
