Temirlan Sultanbekov's sister: My brother is being offered to commit suicide

“He was placed in a cell with a tuberculosis patient”

Kanykey Sultanbekova, sister of opposition politician Temirlan Sultanbekov, reported on the moral and psychological pressure her brother is facing in detention.

Temirlan was arrested on November 23 along with other figures as part of an investigation into calls for mass riots.

In her social media post, Kanykey condemned the selective approach to punishments for violations that occurred during the elections, as well as the restrictions on freedom of speech in Kyrgyzstan, describing the conditions in which her brother is being held.

“He is being held in a cell with 18 other inmates, among whom is a person with tuberculosis, which creates additional pressure,” she wrote.

Additionally, Kanykey claims that some staff members at the facility where Temirlan is held are suggesting that he commit suicide.

It should be noted that there is currently no official confirmation of the information voiced by Kanykey Sultanbekova.

It is worth reminding that in November, law enforcement agencies conducted a series of searches and detentions related to the case of calls for mass riots.

As a result, several politicians, activists, and former officials were detained or questioned, including Temirlan Sultanbekov, Kadyirbek Atambaev, Shailoobek Atazov, Syimyk Japykeev, Kubanychbek Kadyrov, and others.

Ten people were placed in the temporary detention facility.
