The court granted the prosecution's request and decided to place Temirlan Sultanbekov, Ermek Ermatov, and Urmat Askarbekov in custody. They will remain in the pre-trial detention center until January 17.
It is important to note that Urmat Askarbekov was previously known by the surname Urmat Baryktabasov.
In addition, the court heard the cases of other detainees, including Kadyrbek Atambaev, former bodyguard of Almazbek Atambayev Damir Musakeev, as well as former deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh Shailoobek Atazov and Kubanychbek Kadyrov. The investigative authorities are also requesting their arrest.
Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the disruption of a group that was preparing mass riots after the elections to the Jogorku Kenesh. According to the investigation, this group included former deputies, civil servants, and representatives of law enforcement agencies who attracted supporters, including organized criminal groups and sports associations, for provocations and clashes.
“The detainees intended to organize a series of rallies across the country during the vote counting period, starting from the southern regions and continuing in Bishkek and the provinces, creating the appearance of mass discontent. Their plans included unconstitutional calls and a possible seizure of administrative buildings, television channels, law enforcement facilities, as well as institutions of the penitentiary system,” the official statement said.
