The State Committee for National Security detained a police colonel who headed the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Security Service on suspicion of receiving bribes from his subordinates. It has been established that since 2024, he systematically collected illegal fees from employees of the Balykchi Security Department through the head of that same department and his accomplice.
The first meeting of the VIII convocation of the Jogorku Kenesh took place, where 87 deputies received their mandates and took an oath. Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu was re-elected as the speaker of parliament, receiving support from 84 votes, while three voted against.
Three vice-speakers were also elected: Chyngyz Ajibayev, Zhyldyz Talaybek kyzy, and Karim Khandzhez.
In addition, five deputy groups were formed in parliament: "Ata-Jurt," "Mekenchil," "Eldik," "Ala-Too," and "Adilet Kyrgyzstan." Three deputies—Elvira Surabaldiyeva, Bolot Ibragimov, and Erulan Kokulov—decided to act independently of the groups.
In 2025, the Main Department for Combating Smuggling of the Customs Service recorded 9,604 cases of legislative violations, of which 9,100 were administrative offenses, and 504 were crimes, with materials transferred to investigative bodies. As a result, the state recovered damages amounting to over 1.1 billion soms, and vehicles and other property, including precious metals, worth over 326 million soms were transferred to the state revenue.

Rising prices for goods and services in Kyrgyzstan in 2025

From January to November 2025, consumer prices in Kyrgyzstan increased by 8.3% compared to December 2024. Over ten months, inflation was 7.1%. The National Statistics Committee reports that the highest price increases occurred in the following categories: services for the population—by 9.1%; food and non-alcoholic beverages—by 8.9%; alcoholic beverages and tobacco products—by 7.9%; non-food products—by 7%.

According to preliminary data, Kyrgyzstan's gross domestic product for January to November of this year amounted to 1 trillion 628.6 billion soms, which is 10.2% more than in the same period of 2024. Over ten months, GDP growth was 10%. The increase in gross domestic product was driven by commodity production, the service sector, and net taxes on products.
