While fishing for trout, a man was attacked by a nutria.

The incident occurred when Arthur Sedov, known in the fishing community of Kyrgyzstan as "The Asian Wanderer", was fishing at a fish farming facility near Tokmok. Eyewitnesses reported that the nutria got caught on the hook. This area is home to many nutria, and local fishermen often express their dissatisfaction because these animals dig burrows, leading to water breaches in the dams. "When I saw that a nutria was caught on the hook, I decided to help it and carefully pull it to the shore. It turned out to be quite difficult, as the creature was entangled in a lot of underwater vegetation. I used a stick to pull the nutria onto the land, cleared it of algae, and noticed how the hook was stuck," Arthur recounted.

However, when he approached closer, the nutria suddenly attacked him, biting his finger. "I was lucky that the bite wasn't very serious — just a small wound with bleeding. Upon returning home, I treated the wound and began to realize that the consequences could have been serious," he shared.

Ecologist Alexander Sosnovsky noted that wild animals can carry dangerous diseases, including rabies. "Wolves, stray dogs, jackals, foxes, hedgehogs, nutria, and rats can carry this virus. Therefore, catching wild animals and bringing them home is highly discouraged," Sosnovsky warned.

The next day, Arthur, realizing all the possible risks, went to a hospital in Bishkek, where he was prescribed a rabies vaccination. Now he will have to undergo a course of injections for several months.

Despite the incident, the fishing mentor is confident that this will not stop him from traveling to the Indian Ocean, where he plans to fulfill his dream of catching a shark. He will be able to receive his injections during this trip as well.
