Hunter Vladimir Zakharov, sharing his experience, recounted that after receiving his hunting permit, he went hunting and caught a pheasant. However, when he started to prepare his trophy, he found worms in the bird's crop. "I felt uncomfortable. I have been hunting for many years, but I have never encountered anything like this. I wonder what this could mean and whether it is safe to eat such a pheasant?" — expressed his concerns Zakharov.
Ecologist Alexander Sosnovsky commented on the situation, assuring that it poses no danger to the hunter's health, despite its repulsive appearance. "The worms that were found are food for pheasants. The food base for these birds changes depending on the season and the environment. This autumn, there has been a mass reproduction of a certain type of worm, which is related to their appearance in the crops of pheasants. Although these birds may have parasites, by following proper thermal processing rules, one can avoid health risks," explained Sosnovsky.
The pheasant hunting season in Kyrgyzstan will start on October 18, 2025, and will last until December 28, 2025.
