Hunter Temirbek Kydyrbaev told Turmush that the photograph of the footprint was taken at the wintering site of Chilik, in the Ak-Tash area, near the village of Sary-Bulak. "Male wolves of such size are extremely rare. In all my hunting practice, I have not encountered such individuals. We learned that in the Sary-Bulak area, wolves have started to disturb local livestock breeders, attacking their cattle. We managed to shoot a female wolf, but the male escaped. The predator was very large. We opened fire from a distance of 100 meters, but our shots did not hit the target. It was a yellow wolf with a reddish tint, and its size made a big impression on me," the hunter shared.
Temirbek also added that there is information about a female wolf that has started attacking livestock again.
Another hunter, Zhanat Kokobaev, noted that he encountered the tracks of such a large wolf 7-8 years ago in the Sary-Zhon area. At that time, despite attempts to lure the predator out, he was unable to shoot it. As Kokobaev admits, encounters with such large wolves are rare.
With the onset of the winter season, livestock breeders in the Kochkor district are increasingly reporting wolf attacks on domestic animals. For example, in a forest plantation near the village of Kok-Zhar, wolves attacked and killed several animals.
