On January 7, 2026, at the "Consolidated Post" near the "Ak-Tilek" checkpoint in the Kyrgyz-Kazakh direction, a batch of potatoes weighing 44.2 tons was discovered that did not meet the established quarantine phytosanitary standards.

According to information from the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, violations were identified thanks to the work of the staff of the Department of Chemicalization, Plant Protection, and Quarantine during the control of quarantine phytosanitary conditions.

The imported product posed a high phytosanitary risk and was not accompanied by the required phytosanitary certificate. In accordance with paragraph 3.7 of the Regulation on the Procedure for Conducting Quarantine Phytosanitary Control on the Customs Territory of the Eurasian Economic Union, approved by the decision of the Customs Union Commission on June 18, 2010, No. 318, the cargo was returned to the sender.

The ministry emphasized that control over compliance with phytosanitary standards when importing agricultural products into the country continues as usual.
